Random eat out day

One of those days where I had all three meals of my day outside... which adds up to a lot of money spent.
Sometimes, I don't even know how this kinda thing can happen because I keep telling myself that I need to save up and eat home-cooked meals more.

Any who... I had my breakfast (actually, brunch) at Boston Pizza. Lol. Such an unhealthy choice to have such greasy food entering my tummy first thing I wake up...

Goat Cheese and Spinach Dip
We requested to have tortilla chips instead of bread to go along with the dip.

French Onion Soup
They changed the onion soup. It used to be SUPER cheesy...
Now it has very little cheese and has some tomato sauce on the cheese wtf =_=

And randomly...
A camwhore photo of myself. LOL

Then we went to try the "famous" beef noodle soup at Aberdeen, called Chef Hung Taiwanese Beef Noodles.

We both ordered the same thing - the famous award-winning beef noodle soup, but with a not spicy soup base.

The noodles were alright...
The only part of the dish I really liked was the beef brisket. I will not pay $10 for a bowl of noodle that quality =_=. No offense but I don't see how that could be award winning food. For $10, I'd rather go downtown and have some heavenly ramen instead =P

Anyway... we walked around the mall and saw this mini Egypt exhibit thing.

The display was made out of M&M's!!

Hahaha. I thought this was funny. I wonder if people actually tried to reach in there to grab the M&M's to eat.

Another pic of the not-so-edible pharaoh statue.

Not too long after dinner, we went to Kamei Royale to have some drinks.

Calpico Mojito
This was pretty good =]
I would order one and finish it myself but I'm not too fond of minty drinks (or food for that matter).

Deep Fried Ice Cream

Strawberry Margarita
Nothing like a margarita, but it was so good!
It tasted like an alcoholic strawberry smoothie.

And of course, the one thing we order every single time we are there...
Chicken wings.

*Abrupt end to entry because I am too lazy to end it nicely - not that I do that usually anyway lol.

Bubble Tea Day

My day has been invaded by Taiwanese food today...
Started off by going to lunch. We were planning to go to a ramen place at first, but when we got there, it was closed. So we went to eat at Bubble World on Capstan Way.

Strawberry Watermelon Slush
Yummy. So refreshing on such a hot sunny day =]

Pearl Milk Tea

Meat Sauce + Noodles
Lol. Sorry for giving this such a lame name but I forgot what they named it at the restaurant.
It was good, though. And really cheap too.

After a filling meal, we had to digest it away. So NC and I went to take his dog for a walk.
Look how excited Honey is to be taken out on a walk XD

We walked Honey to the playground.
And we let him play on the slide.

Haha. He was so cute. He went down the slide himself!

After the walk... it was time for a second round of bubble tea =_=, but this bubble tea gathering was planned... not because we went there because another place was closed.
Rebecca and I went to Pearl Castle at Richmond Center to meet up with some friends we haven't seen for almost 10 years XD

Pudding Milk Tea
This didn't have the caramel-y taste that pudding milk tea usually has...
I think pudding milk tea tastes better with the caramel taste.

Passionfruit Slush

Meat Sauce + Dried Noodle
Despite its name, the noodles were not dry at all.
This dish was pretty good.

???
LOL I have no idea what this was... I forgot to ask my friend what he ordered.
But the cup was so fat and cute so I took a picture of it.

Fried Squid
I asked the server if the squid was squid tentacles or the rings of squid. She said they were the rings.
I ordered it and got these triangular shaped squid pieces... She lied.

Seafood Mini Hot-Pot

Green Mango + Grass Jelly
Another drink in those fat, cute cups.

Me + Dan
We used to be almost the same height...
He is so tall now! And I was wearing heels in this picture too >_<

Group pic!
Half of us were posers, I guess =P

It was so nice to see some old friends again... it's been almost 10 years... I feel old for saying this, but, time passes by so fast.
After everybody else left, Rebecca and I camwhored outside because my phone has an awesome app LOL

I look chubby in this one, but you look good. So I uploaded it. I am so nice.

And then, out of nowhere, we decided to go take sticker pictures.
I guess because we were feeling like having a nostalgic night (LOL sounds so retarded). Haven't done sticker pictures for such a long time, but it was so fun =D

Time for more pics of us. Yipee *u*

And of course, you can't end a night without having dessert.
We went to Leisure Tea to have more food after taking sticker pictures.

Tuna Crepe
She was having a craving for crepe instead of dessert, haha.

Ice Cream Waffles
Finally satisfying my craving for waffles after wanting it for the past week!
But their waffles weren't exceptionally good. I like the ones at What8ver and WE Coffee better.

End of night... We were both tired, but it was only 11:30pm - not even. Wtf. We are getting so old.

Magnetic Cafe Has Repelling Food

There's this bubble tea place called Magnetic Cafe, formerly known as Go-Go Tea. It's been opened for a while, but I never got the chance to try it. Then, strangely, I ended up going there two night in a row. (Don't ask...) Yesterday was my second time there.

First of all, I must say that their drinks are too sweet.

Strawberry & Blueberry Frappe
This was the drink I tried on the first night. It was WAY too sweet. I only drank about half and decided to just sip on water afterwards =_=

My Custom Drink
I wanted a mixture of mango and coconut, so I asked the server if they could make that, and they did ^_^.
I asked for the drink to be half sweet, which turned out to be the perfect sweetness for me.
Guess you could say this drink makes up for the bad drink I had from the night before.

And just look at the size of this drink!
But because I liked it, I actually finished the whole thing. LOL

Now the food...
Honestly, I have not tasted food as bad as this at any Taiwanese restaurant before, let alone a bubble tea joint.

Taiwanese Cold Noodle
Wow. This was some gross ass shit.
The noodles were so hard that they could probably pass as uncooked noodles. The overall taste was not impressive either. We took two bites and left the rest of the plate untouched.

After that horrible cold noodle dish, I was still stupid enough to order a bowl of ramen - maybe my hunger took control of me...

Pork Chop Miso Ramen
This was... interesting. The soup itself did not taste bad. However, it had no trace of miso whatsoever.
The ramen noodles were pretty hard, too. And the pork chops that came with it were also not the greatest.

I'd say that Magnetic Cafe has decent drinks (if you ask for half sweetened drinks) in very large portions - which is a good thing? They have horrendous food in my book so far... maybe I was just unlucky enough to have ordered their worst foods on the menu. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe try another dish if I happen to revisit.
The service was very good, though. The servers, who were dressed up in cutesy, almost cosplay-looking, uniforms, were very nice and friendly =]

New Layout + Essay Hangover

After a brutal night last night trying to finish our 10-page paper for our class, Ching and I were having an essay hangover... Well, I'm not sure about her, but at least I felt like I was having a hangover, except I was dizzy and nauseous from not having enough sleep from writing an essay, not alcohol. How fun.

It was impossible for us to focus in class today with such little sleep... I just poked at my phone for the whole three hours of lecture.
Thank goodness, our friend was nice enough to drive us back from school when his class was over so we didn't have to bus.

When we got back to Richmond, we went to eat at 大頭仔 Bubble World. I didn't even know they've opened one up here in Richmond XP.

Milky Honey Tea (I think?)
Haha... I don't remember. It was Ching's drink. Pretty good.
I didn't really like the foam on the top, but she did =P

Milky Strawberry Mango Mix Slush
Whoa. This thing was so huge. Look at the size of the cup in comparison to my hand lol.
It was yummy too. And it was only $4.95 for such a big cup!

Ching and our friend ordered meals. I was way too sleepy to eat.

One of the side dishes that came with the meals was this cabbage dish thing...
It was cabbage soaked in vinegar?... I think?
I usually love sour stuff, but this was horrible. So horrible that I had to take a picture of it to point it out lol.

Anyway...

Aside from my day of exhaustion, I have also changed the look of the blog.
Gonna try out this new layout for a bit. I've also added "glasskiwi@blogspot" in fancy photoshop letters instead of just using plain text to see how that works out. If it's too distracting, I'll take it away XP.

Hello, nature... and exercise

I went hiking with my group of friends in Lynn Valley...
I knew I was out of shape, but I didn't know how badly I was out of shape until today... This was the most exercise I've gotten in... months? Or maybe even half a year O_O. There were moments where I felt like I was gonna die... just trying to catch my breath, hahaha.

It was well worth my sweat and energy, though.
Lynn Valley was really pretty. It's been such a long time since I've been to any natural scenery.

I wonder if this fruit thing is edible...

We had to refuel, so we went to downtown to eat at Ciao Bella.
Their food was very good, especially for such a reasonable price. The only thing I have to complain about is that the food are almost soaked in olive oil. Too much olive oil.

Carbonara linguine

Risotto

We went for another round of hiking around the North Vancouver lighthouse area.
Then we came back to Richmond to fill our tummies again.

We went to Well Tea... initially we were just there to get a drink and to kill some time while we were waiting for a friend, but ended up eating dinner there as well.

We all ordered the mix and match noodle soup thing.
Compared to the ones at Deer Garden, these were very mediocre. But of course, that is expected.

Phew. What a fun, but super tiring day. I had such a work-out lol.
