Styling a very oversized sweater

Here's the story:
I have purchased a few sweaters from BCBG Max Azria before, and their size XXS had always been okay for me. I saw their Nevena sweater and thought it was really cute to wear as a sweater dress (given my short height), so I bought it without trying it on. In fact, I was so confident that there would be nothing wrong with the fitting that I ripped off and threw away the tags before trying the sweater on. And guess what... SURPRISE! The sweater fits way too big on me. Congratulations =_=".
I bought this back in either October or November but didn't wear it because it was too big on me. I tried to sell it back online but had no luck... Lacking the ability to sew, I took a gamble with the dryer haha.
I threw the sweater in the dryer for a short amount of time, hoping it will shrink... and it did, but just a tiny bit. I was scared that if I let the dryer shrink it anymore, the whole shape of the sweater will change too, so I worked with what I got.

I finally decided to wear the sweater out, and this was how it looked on me:

It was still too big for me, but at least it was a little better than before.
The length was still a little longer than I'd like even though I wanted to wear it as a sweater dress.

So, I tried it on with a belt...

With the belt, the sweater was lifted a bit so the length was not as long.

Or... I can just wear a scarf to add more "detail" to the outfit.
It somehow distracts the eye and takes the attention off the size of the sweater.

Or... just wear a very distracting animal hat-scarf-mitten thing so no one will even be thinking about how big the sweater is...

I decided to go with the last option haha

Also, camwhore time with my bear hat-scarf-mitten thing.

Whoever came up with that idea to integrate a hat, scarf and mittens all in one is a genius.

Anyway, in case you are interested in the sweater, it is on sale now:

On another note... I am welcoming the new year with a new look (despite already chopping off my long hair a few months ago).
I am now a blondie ;D
Will post pictures in the next post!

Black Bridesmaids Dresses

*ad

This post is exactly what the title says...

I have not been to a lot of weddings - only two, to be exact, excluding the ones that I went to when I was a kid... But from watching TV shows and seeing photos of other people's weddings, I noticed that I don't see bridesmaids in black dresses. Both weddings I've gone to, the brides had requested that we do not wear black too.

Hmm... I'm assuming it is a "luck" thing, especially for Chinese people. How unfortunate, because who doesn't look good in a little black dress?

Look at this one:
This dress is so pretty!

Because I have never looked into black bridesmaids dresses (because I never had a quest to search for one), I never realized how flattering they looked haha. I think it would look pretty cool if the bride wore a flashy color standing next to her bridesmaids in their black bridesmaids dresses. The bride would stand out like BAM!, and the bridesmaids would all look super chic and sexy in little black dresses ;D

Anyway... sorry again for the slow updates. I can barely breathe will school assignments piled up to my neck. Once the week is over, I'll have some breathing room again.

Aeropostale clothing for girls

*Ad

Hello, my lovelies... Guess what?
Aeropostale is having a huge sale right now. Some of their pieces are even 60 - 70% off - both online (here) and in stores!
Their selection of clothing for girls actually have a smaller fit than other stores I know of. In fact, their XS sizing is almost perfect for me - it's just that the sleeves can be longer than desired on me.

To show you guys how their clothes fit on a petite person like me, I took some photos:

I tried to take three pieces of clothing with different fit so you guys can get an idea of how the pieces fit. That's why I took the blue sweater (which is a casual, not-too-fitted shape) and then the knitted cardigan (a fitted shape in a thicker material) and lastly, the long sleeve top (which is a thin, fitted material).

I think because Aeropostale's style is aimed at a younger age, the fitting is smaller.
Their style is very casual and girl-next-door. This is a great chance if you want to stock up on casual, comfy clothing since the prices are super duper discounted.

Hope this post was helpful =D

P.S.
I am hoping to finish re-editing the photos of my new nails and I should post a new tutorial soon.
My desktop is still unwilling to cooperate with me =(

Fancy names for clothing pieces

Ad

You can call me ignorant, but I honestly never knew that there were such fancy names for pieces of clothing... I just kinda made up names for the pieces lol.
To show you guys what I mean, look at this style of clothing:

No need to criticize whether or not those tops fit me, because I just picked out the first two tops I saw in the store that was of that style.
I have been calling these "bat sleeve" tops for the longest time (like in this entry)... but the proper name for them is actually Dolman sleeve.
You can see a bunch of Dolman sleeve dresses on sale on this site if you still don't know what I am talking about.

And has any of you heard of Harris shoes or Leeds shoes?
I have tried to google those terms to find more information on them.
So... from my unprofessional super quick "research". Leeds shoes seem to be men's plain-toe lace-up dress shoes. And Harris shoes is a brand of men's shoes.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway...

My desktop has died and it won't even start up. Now I don't have access to any of my photos or any files for that matter.
I actually had a bunch of photos edited already so I can show off another nail art design I did... but now I've lost access to them =(
I am praying for a miracle that the stupid old desktop will miraculously recover.

BCBG sale event

Hi lovelies!

Guess what I discovered...
There's a friends and family event going on at BCBG (link). There's a 30% off regular price items right now =D
If you shop on the site, shipping is free for the regular priced items. I'm not sure if the promotion is on at the US stores, but the sale is not happening at the Canadian stores - or at least not yet. Therefore, I'm listing out the items in US dollars, in case you are wondering why. (The prices are more expensive in Canadian stores...)

Here are some of my good finds (at least I think they are good finds haha):

Opaque Tights (4 colors)
$15US --> $10.50 (some colors are $18 for some reason)

Not much I can say about this. One of those essentials you must have in your wardrobe. I just think it's such a good deal now that it's 30% off ;)

Fae Lace Top (black or white)
$88US --> $61.60

I loved this top at first sight. It looks much prettier in person than in the pictures.
Funny thing about me wearing this is because I am so petite, this top can pass as a dress for me lol... which I like.

This is what I mean:
(Here's me wearing the top + the opaque tights.)

Hahaha. See how long it is on me? XD

Rabbit-Fur Earmuffs (black or white)
$38US --> $26

Love these earmuffs! They are so super soft because they are made of rabbit fur (yes, kinda cruel in a way). But I'm deciding on whether or not I should get them since I have a very similar pair of white furry earmuffs.

To buy or not to buy...

Came across a dress and a jacket that I'm thinking about whether I should buy or not...
If I was balling I'd get them both just like that *snaps fingers* haha, but unfortunately, that is not the case T_T.

Let me start with the super expensive item...

from BCBG Max Azria
in size XXS
Price: It's $398 on the US site but $478 in Canadian stores. Wtf O_o...

Front:

Side:

*Please excuse how awkward my shoes look because I was stepping on my shoes instead of wearing them.

LOVING: I love the fit of this dress!
It hugs the body nicely and the material is really thick so you don't have to worry about any rolls from your tummy showing or anything. The dress looks very elegant. It's also kinda shimmering, which I love.

HESITATING: I find the length to be a bit long on me because I am so short - which means more spending because I would have to go get this altered. And even though I really love the color, it is a bit on the flashy side so I'm not sure if it will be appropriate to wear on everyday occasions (e.g. to work). The biggest issue is how much this dress costs... If I am not able to wear this dress once in a while, I feel like spending so much money on it is not worth it.

NOW onto a cheaper, more casual wear...

from Garage
in size XS, color hazelnut
(similar available at Kohl's)
Price: $69.90 (but $20 off right now)

Front:

Side:
I just realized I had a very weird posture... anyway...

LOVING: I really like the color of this jacket, and it has faux fur lining inside, which is really warm and oh so soft. The jacket isn't super plastic-y feeling like some of other faux leather jackets I've tried on.

HESITATING: The sleeves are too long for me. I had to fold them up (they are already folded up in these pictures). The sleeves are also too big near the shoulder/arm part, so when I bend my arm backwards, there is a funny lump of extra fabric.

I was surprised that I found something I liked there because I haven't shopped at Garage for a really long time... I went in there today with some friends because we were killing time.

Since we are speaking about this jacket from Garage, I should tell you guys that they are having a sale right now =]
There is an additional 30% off on sale merchandise and extra $20 off on outerwear. Here's their website if you're interested in checking their stuff out:  http://www.shopgarageonline.com
(I'm totally doing a free advertisement for them right now =_=)

Well that's all now =]

BCBG "bat sleeves" haul

I have no idea what has gotten over me.. but I realized that I am attracted to the oversized shirts/sweaters with the "bat sleeves" (I don't know the proper name for them).
I bought three tops that are of that style from BCBG Max Azria... without even noticing that they all had the same style sleeves until I got home and looked at them lol.

Because I feel like showing off my new tops, I will ;)
The colors are a little off because of the crappy lighting in my room =(

#1 Camille Loose-Knit Crop Top (here)
Size XXS

#2 Otis Cowl-Neck Dolman Top (here)
Size XXS

#3 Cable Collar Sweater (here)
Size XXS

The tops don't look too great by themselves because they don't have the proper shape they are supposed to have... So... Who wants to see me try them on? *Nobody* lol
Well, I will show you anyway.
By the way though... because I am so short petite, the tops don't fit like they do on the models on the site hahaha.

#1
Pose to show you the "bat sleeve"

#2
Another weird pose to show you the sleeve

#3
Love the top scarfy-looking part!

And yes, I blurred out the background because I don't want you to see my room hahaha.
Kthxbye =]
