Seattle - Crab Pot & Gum Wall

Another late post haha.
Despite having been to Seattle quite a few times, I never got to try the Crab Pot or see the gum wall, so the plan was to do those two things.

Before heading out...
Wearing the yellow bag I got for my birthday. Loving how bright and yellow and happy it is haha

The weather was superb!
I hadn't seen the sunshine in such a long time TuT... but it was still cold.

Lunch time at the Crab Pot =D

Our appies:

And what we came here for!

On the way to the gum wall, look what I saw at the market place...
This has got to be the most gigantic garlic I've ever seen

And ta-da... the gum wall...
It looks disgusting up close lol

Shopping after sight-seeing.
I saw Adventure Time hats!

And the best way to end the night?

Ocean Park - Old Hong Kong

I wanted to wait until I got all the pictures from everyone before I blog about Ocean Park, but I'm too impatient haha.
SO... I went to Ocean Park with some friends and it was an awesome day to go there. First of all, the weather was great. It had rained the couple of days before we decided to go, so it wasn't too blazing hot on the day we went there. Also, because it was a Tuesday, there were very few people (talking in Hong Kong standards of "few", of course.)
A group pic at the entrance =]

Huge fountain right after you enter the park.

We walked around and in the goldfish exhibit area, there was a board where you can make wishes.
Guess what my wish was... (I'm so shallow lol)

Ocean park has built a new area called old Hong Kong and it lets you walk through the culture of Hong Kong back in the 1950's - 1970's (I think).

I thought the Old Hong Kong street was amazing. It felt like we went back in time and I absolutely loved it. I don't know why, but I love the 50's.

Look at this adorable bus XD

Veggies, anyone?

We took tons more pictures, but I don't have them on my camera since my battery died...

After the walk through old Hong Kong, we took the cable car up the mountain, where the roller coasters and the other things were.
During the ride, it was super windy... My hair was going crazy inside the cable car.

My friends were going to take a picture of me with my hair flying up like a medusa, but once they were about to take the photo, troll wind blew my hair all over my face and my face was completely covered.

I thought this picture was super hilarious:

Anyway, sorry for only blogging about my days. If my posts are boring you, no worries, because I'm editing pics for a nail tutorial (finally) ;)

Beautiful Hong Kong

Another view at beautiful Hong Kong's night, but this time, from the top of a mountain instead of inside a lounge ;D

This picture, obviously, does not do the view any justice because we didn't have any fancy cameras. In fact, my camera is so crappy that I had to take pictures with my iphone instead =_=

A picture of meeeee and the view...
It looks like I'm glowing lol

Group pic =]

It started to rain not too long after we took pics, so we had to leave.
The next time (if there is a next time) I go back there, I will make sure to have a better camera with me.

After the feast for our eyes, it's a feast for our tummies.
Dessert at Honeymoon Desserts!

"Yerng gi gum lo" with vanilla ice cream.

Same as above, but with green tea ice cream.

"Lerng fun" and durian + green tea ice cream

I had no idea what this was lol
Coconut milk and some seeds?

Because I was lazy and didn't update frequently, now I have a ton of updates to do...

Omnomnomnom

This is why I love Hong Kong. Delicious food everywhere.

For lunch, we went for breakfast food.

My gigantic ham and egg sandwich.
Super soft bread and foodgasmic eggs TuT

Beef macaroni
I think my brother devoured this in less than a minute or something lol.

Thick toast with condensed milk =]

Normally, there is a long line up to eat at this place, but we went there after lunch hours, so we only had to wait a few minutes.
The place is super busy and the pace is very quick... basically, you get seated and a server is already ready to take your order. The food comes so fast, and they expect you to be out of there very fast too.

Because I eat slow, we were in and out of there in 15 minutes... I think that is considered slow already haha.

Later on, we went to have some dessert and to rest our legs.

My auntie and I shared this combo of mango desserts:

Mango sago with tons of mango

Mango pudding, mango cheescake, mango sorbet

Then... dinner!
Jackie and I went to a restaurant called Butagumi Tonkatsu because I wanted to try that cheesy-looking thing on the front of the menu.

It was so cool because they gave you this grinder thing so you can grind the sesame for your sauce while you wait for the food:

Once you feel that the sesame smells good enough, you pour in the tonkatsu sauce.

And here comes the tonkatsu =D

The dinner set came with this miso soup. It had pieces of pork and the purple jelly thing (as you can see in the photo) inside. Best miso soup I have ever tasted.

More food posts to come XD

Layover at Narita airport

On the way to Hong Kong, there was a 4-hour layover at the Narita airport in Japan.
There were so many cutesy, interesting things to see that the four hours did not seem to last long haha. (Or maybe I was just easily amused.)

First thing off the plane, I saw this display of Kit Kat chocolates.
So many different flavors I did not know Kit Kat came in!... I really wanted to try the blueberry cheesecake flavor, but that did not come in small boxes and I didn't want to buy such a big box.

Then, these extremely cute bottles caught my eye...
Special flavored sake in small little bottles. Super adorable!

In one of the vending machines, there were the cutest Star Wars key-chains I have ever seen. I did not know Star Wars characters could look so cute.

Time to stuff our bellies...

My brother ordered the beef udon:

And Jackie and I ordered the Narita ramen:

Both were really good, except I thought they were a bit pricey... But we were at the airport, so I guess over-pricing was expected.

Anyway, we still had some time to kill until the flight to Hong Kong, so we walked around some more. And, of course, more cute stuff everywhere.

Look at this pair of cats. Someone should buy me this for my wedding gift one day haha.

Too bad I did not have money to stay a few nights in Japan =(

Food, food & food =D

Here comes my food post on the yummy encounters in Hong Kong from the two weeks I was there.
Be warned that this post is a little bit on the image-heavy side even though I've gone through all my pictures and only picked out certain ones to post lol.

First thing I'm talking about, but not the first thing I ate in Hong Kong... was the heavily promoted 玉子將軍漢堡 (Shogan burger with egg).

It didn't taste too incredible... In fact, I wasn't fond of the taste at all.
It was like a Sausage & Egg McMuffin smothered in teriyaki sauce.

The following day, my brother and I got a chance to try The Spaghetti House with our uncle.

Their menus were really nice.
There was a picture for almost every single item on the menu, which I liked... Because I like to look at the food before I order.

However, there was this one page that sparked a question (as pointed out by Jackie when I showed him this picture):

Under the risotto section, there was 炒飯 (fried rice).
There were also other types of rice listed under this section, but none of the rice dishes were actually risotto dishes.
Maybe they didn't know what risotto is O_o

Since we weren't that hungry and we didn't have a lot of time to eat, we didn't order anything heavy.

I forgot what this sandwich was called. Probably club sandwich?

My brother ordered this little trio of dishes.
Salad, egg salad on toast, and creme brulee.

The food was below average for the price they charged.
There was ONE exception though... the creme brulee; it was gross. It was the worst creme brulee I have ever tasted - instead of creamy, it was chunky, and the top part was extremely burnt.

Later that night, I had this bowl of fish cake rice noodle soup that was really tasty.
It was only $20 HKD!

Next day...
McDonald's again.

I tried the McDonald's twisty noodle breakfast for the first time.

It was nothing special, but I prefer this over a McMuffin because it isn't as dry as eating buns in the morning.

I was watching TV and this commercial came on advertising the new Kinder Surprise chocolate egg, called Kinder Joy? It looked so cool in the commercial and I was saying how I really wanted to try one. My dad actually went and got one for me XD

Opening up the egg...
It's half chocolate and half toy like soooo:

Ta-da! This is what it looks like inside!
It looked so interesting and I was super excited to try it...
But...
It turns out that I liked the original Kinder better. *Disappointment*

One disappointment can easily be made up for since there are so many good food in Hong Kong ;)

My dad wanted to try this place called 丼丼屋 (Dondonya), so we did.
Here is his okayodon:

My cold udon with egg.
It was really good =9

Curry beef udon

Deep-fried potato cakes with cheese inside.
The cheese tasted like mayo to me lol

And tempura veggies.

Dondonya was a pretty good restaurant. The prices were a little above the average price for food in Hong Kong, but it was worth the money.

Well... Are you ready for more McDonald's food?

I am trying McWings!

Deep fried chicken wings!
They were tasty, but I am so sensitive to spicy food that I had a really bad runny nose while eating these wings. I am so sensitive that some people don't even taste the spicyness in these wings X_X

My auntie ordered a sweet potato pie. I wanted to try it, but we were heading out for dinner already. (Yes, we were going out to dinner right after we had McDonald's...)

And thanks to my uncle tempting me to try something new, I had yet another little snack before dinner lol.
There was a neat little burger place called Mos Burgers in the shopping mall.

Don't these pretty pictures on the menu make you want to try every item?

We were in a hurry to get to the restaurant for dinner, so we took our burger to-go.
It got all squished and ugly in the bag, haha.

We ordered the ebi burger, but it was a disappointment. It looked much better than it tasted =(

Skipping the time to the following day, where we went to a super awesome buffet!! XD

Hello, food!

I had three rounds of food before I went for my dessert round.
There was soooooooo much food to choose from and everything was really yummy!

I tried to grab a piece of every single dessert item they had, but I couldn't because my tummy couldn't hold that much food. I stopped at this much (lol):

I left the buffet feeling like I was about to blow up and I couldn't eat anything for another good 5 or 6 hours D=

Right before the plane ride back, we tried the mango tarts from (Maxim's).
Yummy yummy. Thumbs up!

Typing up this post makes me miss Hong Kong already. Not just because of the food, but because of my family too :')
