Girl's din + Failed almond cookies =(

I went to dinner with two of my girl friends because we had this coupon for this restaurant that we have never even heard of lol!

I had a hard time trying to find the entrance to the restaurant because I didn't know it was inside a hotel =_=.

Anyway... started off the night with some camwhoring shots while we waited for the food.

Food's here!
By then, I was starving... and my stomach was hurting because I was so hungry...

First dish: Butter chicken =9
I wish it wasn't spicy though...

Fish & chips.
Honestly, this dish sucked. The batter was soggy and not crispy/crunchy at all.

Yam gnocchi =D
My fav out of the three dishes we ordered. Maybe it's because I'm a gnocchi fan.

Dinner was fun. I should go and use up my random coupons for all these places I have not been to so I can try all the different restaurants.

Anyway!...
I found this recipe for almond cookies, so K and I baked (or attempted at baking) almond cookies for Valentine's Day...

Look at our sticky dough D=

If you ask me, I think the cookies turned out pretty nice-looking ;)
Unfortunately, they didn't have enough almond-ness and they didn't stay crunchy. I was so disappointed.
I am not sure if I just suck a baking or if it's the recipe's fault. Most likely the former, though haha.

How did you guys celebrate Valentine's Day?

ABC's 25th anniversary

I was craving for dessert because I have not had any for a while... Taking a mini break from studying, Jackie and I went to ABC Country restaurant because he wanted their pumpkin pie.

Pumpkin Pie
The crust was not as crunchy as we remembered... but that could be because I went to the place half an hour before they were closing haha

Surprise of the night...

Hot Fudge Mt. Baker
Our nice server told us that the restaurant was celebrating their 25th anniversary and so this dessert was on special for only $1.95!!
This thing was huge... I can't believe it only costs $1.95 TuT

If there is an ABC Country restaurant close to you, you should go try that dessert. It is so chocolately good hahaha. The $1.95 promotion is only available until March 31st ;)

Boston Pizza + Pose Posh Post's Giveaway

I have not been to Boston Pizza for a while.
Jackie and I went there for dinner a few days ago (I think it was a few days?) and we saw that they had a special menu for the holidays =D
However, since I already had something to eat before we went there, I didn't order an entree.

Here's Jackie's entree, though:

Chicken and Mushroom Fettucini
I thought that this dish had an uneven proportion of pasta and sauce.
It seemed to have too little sauce so I found the pasta a bit dry.

I tried the soup from the special holidays menu.

Roasted Butternut Squash and Pumkin Soup
I liked how this came with nuts on the top so there's a bit of a crunch in the soup.
Compared to White Spot's Pumpkin Soup, though, I think this one is sweeter than I'd like... but then again, they are different soups - one has squash and the other doesn't. But they're similar.

I was also really thirsty and craving for something slushy.
So I tried a Peach Smoothie.

This smoothie came like this initially:
The crystals on the rim of the cup is actually salt.
When I drank it, I thought the drink tasted a little strange - a little salty, in fact.
At first, I thought the salt from the rim had fallen in and made the drink salty... but I realized that I was drinking from the bottom of the cup so that shouldn't be the case.
I asked the server and he said that they did put salt in the drink because they usually put salts in alcoholic drinks, but since mine was virgin, the addition of salt in there made the taste strange.

So he gave me a new one - without salt.

Anyway... that was my little Boston Pizza dinner adventure.

"That" Restaurant

There is this restaurant that I always drive pass.
It's been there for as long as I can remember, but I've never been inside to try their food. So... today, Jackie and I decided to give "that" restaurant a try.
The place is called ABC Country.

Beer battered onion rings
Although these were not exceptional, they were still the best onion rings I've had so far.

Swiss, bacon & avocado burger
This is really good. The avocado worked really well in the burger.

Salisbury steak & mushrooms
The star of the dish (the Salisbury steak) was actually not that great.
What I really liked were the veggies and the baked potato, haha.

The food was pretty decent, and the prices were very reasonable, too.
I really wanted to try their desserts, but we were too full from our entrees to fit dessert into our tummies... Next time >=)

Pourhouse in Gastown

I was walking around Gastown with my team member because we had to take pictures of sights in Gastown for a school project.
We both got really hungry and just went inside the restaurant that was closest to us.

The restaurant is called Pourhouse.
The interior of the restaurant has that historical Gastown feel, which I thought was neat because the outside and the inside of the streets matched XP.

Spaghetti and meatballs

Mushroom pie...
which looks like a log with grass and moss LOL.
But don't let its looks fool you; it tasted really good =9

We saw many other restaurants as we were walking around, so I'm sure I'll be eating around in Gastown quite often this semester.
