High-Tea at Fairmont

A little girl time with my dear Rice at the Fairmont hotel =D
We had a very late brunch there. The place was so busy... Surprising because I wouldn't imagine people eating lunch/brunch that late.

My favorite pic of us from that day haha

They had these cute little jars of honey on the side for your tea. I thought it was really cute how small they were lol

And of course, here is our food! =9

This is the bottom, savory tier:

And the top, sweet tier:

I don't know if it was because we were so hungry, but everything was really good. I especially loved the curried-egg, croissants and the scones. Mmm...
I would definitely go back and eat there again, but I think high-tea prices are quite expensive. It's probably one of those things that I will not do more than once a couple months... Otherwise I'd go bankrupt.

Anyway... I'm gonna end the post another camwhore pic of us =]

Random lunch gathering

Woohoo. Another post already =D
This post is a little over-due though...
Anyway... I've been playing this game on my iphone and it made me want to bake. Unfortunately, I'm not the best baker in the world, so I improvised by turning my would-have-been-baking-frenzy into a food-making-frenzy inspired by high-tea menus XP

I invited a few friends over for lunch so they can be guinea pigs to taste my food (lol I joke).
Here are all the munchies laid out on the table. It doesn't look like a whole lot, but this took me a long time to prepare/make!

On the menu:

~ SAVORY ~
Deviled eggs
Lobster summer salad (even though it is not summer)
Stuffed tomatoes
Cream chicken patty shells
Ham, tomato & cheese sandwiches
Smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwiches

~ SWEETS ~
Strawberry & mango tarts
Chocolate banana hazelnut tarts
Strawberry mousse cups
Candied apple slices

~ DRINK ~
Fruit punch

************************************************
Now I will show off my presentable food >=D

Deviled Eggs
Topped with mayo & paprika

Lobster Summer Salad
Lobster meat, avocado, cucumbers and grapefruit
Named it "summer salad" because it tasted very summery to me.

Stuffed Tomatoes
Halved tomatoes stuffed with a spinach, ricotta and ham mix.

Cream Chicken Patty Shells
Patty shells topped with creamy chicken mushroom sauce

Sandwiches
Triangular ones are smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwiches, the square ones are ham tomato & cheese sandwiches

Strawberry & Mango Tarts
Copied this idea from the fruit tarts you always see at Asian bakeries XP

Chocolate Banana Hazelnut Tarts
Banana slices and hazelnuts mixed with nutella. Sprinkled with icing sugar.
One of the tarts had a overload of icing sugar by accident lol.

Strawberry Mousse Cups
Strawberry mousse topped with cool whip

Candied Apple Slices
Green apple slices drizzled with crunchy caramel and milk chocolate.

Fruit Punch
Cranberry & pineapple fruit punch with other fruits as garnish in the bowl.

Ching didn't just come over to the lunch gathering empty handed; She gave me this cute little sundae, which she made from beads! Super awesome XD
I'm going to think of a way to somehow hang this on my phone, even though iphones don't have a hole for cellphone straps.

Despite the long preparation and long clean-up, I had a lot of fun making all the food. I probably will do this again... but just not any time soon since I think I need some rest now, haha.

Adonia Tea House

Using up one of those online voucher things I bought a while ago today.
Jackie and I went to try the desserts at Adonia Tea House. (For the longest time, I kept calling it Adonica Tea House though lol)

Arrived only a bit late of our reservation!
See that empty spot at the window? That was our spot XD

The atmosphere inside was really nice. Victorian feel with all the fancy wallpapers and super nice tea cups =D

Me, the poser, who is pretending to be drinking from the cup lol.

The lighting inside was very dim for my phone so the following picture turned out extremely red. I already tried to color correct it in ps but my skills are very limited...

Our first desserts...
The Dessert Trio

Panna Cotta
This was yummy =]
It was my first time trying Panna Cotta despite seeing it so many times on menus in different restaurants. Not a disappointing first time at all.

Chocolate Mousse
Bleh. Nothing special. And both Jackie and I did not like the jam that was inside.

Fruit Tart
This was a huge disappointment. I didn't like it... The crust tasted like stale sugar cookie and the custard inside was so bland.
To be brutally honest, the fruit tarts are asian bakeries are 50x better... and are at a fraction of the price.

Chocolate Souffle
Mmm... I loved this the most out of everything we had this evening.
It wasn't too sweet, and was very chocolatey, with the perfect melted center =9

Ice Cream Trio
Nothing special at all. And the passionfruit sorbet had a chunk of ice in it.
What a ridiculous high price for this.

After dessert, we went to Boston Pizza to pick up our take-out order because we didn't have a proper dinner beforehand.
Who says you can't have dessert before a meal? XP

Holding the fatty take-out from Boston Pizza

Look at this fatty goodness.
Why do tasty foods have to be so bad for your body? =(

I've got to stop with all this crazy eating... and actually stop eating out in general - at least for a while. Not only because it is bad for my wallet, it is so bad for me too. My face is getting rounder and rounder by the day... and my pants are getting tighter and tighter X_X
